Jul 21, 2016 - The International Environmetrics Society (TIES) conference

The Environmental Statistics Section of the RSS jointly organized (with the Edinburgh and Glasgow RSS local groups) a session at The International Environmetrics Society (TIES) on 21st July 2016. The event was held at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, and the session had 3 speakers each representing one of the RSS groups listed above. The speakers and titles were:

  • Alastair Rushworth – University of Strathclyde and Glasgow local group – Is time really a healer? Building distributed lag models with varying smoothness penalties.

  • Duncan Lee – University of Glasgow and Environmental Statistics Section – Quantifying the spatial inequality and temporal trends in maternal smoking rates in Glasgow.

  • Ron Smith – Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and Edinburgh local group – Applications of Bayesian belief networks for studying ecosystem services

The session was held in the main conference auditorium and was attended by around 40 participants.
